Coil Processing Workshop and Tours

Coil Processing Workshop Heads Back to Corpus Christi!

We’re heading back to Corpus Christi. The next Coil Processing Workshop and Tours will take place April 2-3, 2024. Attending the Coil Processing workshop offers you a chance to network with industry colleagues, visit sponsor tables, and talk with our speakers about issues related to coil processing.

During the workshop you will hear a keynote speech and attend breakout sessions covering processing topics that will help with your daily operations. These small-group breakout sessions can provide actionable solutions and techniques for cutting, slitting, leveling, safety, and more.

You will also see coil processing equipment in action during a facility tour of Steel Dynamics Southwest Sinton Division. The plant tour will provide valuable insights into processes that you won’t see elsewhere.

Understand what it takes to produce proper setups, produce repeatable cut quality, improve slitter setup times, explore loose rubber rings vs. bonded stripper rings, and advancements with automation in the slitter setup area.
10:00 a.m. - 10:50 a.m.

Breakout Session B: A Focus on Packaging Lines… Improving Efficiency one component at a time

To maintain the manufacturing sector in this country, industry must continually improve in efficiency. Manufacturers and Processors can and should specify new machines that allow for safer and quicker packaging requirements. If a brand-new packaging line is not in the budget. Upgrading an existing packaging line can improve efficiency and safety.
11:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m.

Breakout Session B: Design, Construction, and Economics of Foundations for Processing Equipment

Increase your understanding of how coil processing equipment foundations are designed and constructed. The speaker, a leader in specialty concrete foundations, will discuss what to expect during this process, the unique challenges and considerations owners face, and how to avoid the most common pitfalls. If you're considering new equipment and plant modifications now or in the future, you won’t want to miss this presentation.
11:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m.

Breakout Session B: Slitting Thin and Surface Critical Materials

The discussion will incorporate best practices for better results; tension control techniques and options; different tension units for non-marking of the material while still producing tight straight coils; threading, loop pit doublers to gain pit depth without digging deeper, recoiling options and different ways to improve your current line.

This will be an open discussion and all questions are welcome.
